If you only know Juno Temple as Keeley Jones, you know the loudest version of her talent and almost none of the résumé underneath it. Keeley looks like sunshine with a clipboard. Early life: a film set was the family business

Temple is the daughter of film producer Amanda Pirie and director Julien Temple, the British filmmaker behind punk-era docs and features. She has two younger brothers. Her aunt, Nina Temple, was the last general secretary of the Communist Party of Great Britain. That is a household with politics, cameras, and no shortage of strong opinions.

She started young. An early credit lands in Vigo: Passion for Life (1997). Her father directed her as Emma Southey in Pandaemonium (2000). Being a director’s kid can become a trap if the industry treats you like a mascot. Temple did the opposite. She kept taking parts that asked for damage, appetite, or awkward honesty instead of polish.

Temple has never sold herself as the high-school catch. In interviews she talks like someone who knows how casting rooms sort women into types, and who got bored of the soft ones. That attitude shows up in the work: characters who want too much, say too much, or survive rooms that want them quiet.
