Marvel's Wolverine Story Trailer reveals Deathstrike and The Hand

Insomniac's SDCC panel dropped a Story Trailer for Marvel's Wolverine. Here is what it shows, plus what it does not: a Tōkon: Fighting Souls suit swap, a prequel comic, and the September 15 release date.

Insomniac Games used its Marvel's Wolverine: Deep Cuts panel at San Diego Comic-Con to drop a brand-new Story Trailer. Watch Logan's side of the fight first, then the details the panel added that the clip does not spell out.

What the trailer shows

The Story Trailer opens on an enraged Logan confronting Jean Grey in a rare moment of vulnerability. It also spotlights The Hand as a new enemy faction, dressed in their trademark red, and puts Deathstrike forward as one of the game's big bads. Insomniac paired the trailer with new art showing Logan going head to head with The Hand, a rivalry the studio says players uncover as the story unfolds.

What the trailer does not tell you

You can unlock a Tōkon suit on day one. Marvel's Wolverine is crossing over with Arc System Works' MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls. Wolverine's Tōkon suit unlocks in Marvel's Wolverine through normal game progression starting day one. The trade goes both ways: the Battle Reborn suit from Marvel's Wolverine becomes free for every Tōkon player starting September 1.

The score comes from David Fleming. The composer wrote the music behind Logan's globe-trotting arc, and Insomniac confirmed the full soundtrack releases on August 28, 2026, more than two weeks before the game itself.

There is a prequel comic, and it is free to read. Narrative director Walt Williams wrote it, Luke Ross drew it, and Iban Coello did the cover. It covers Logan's history with Team X before the main story starts and is readable now on Marvel Unlimited.

The cast was on stage. Liam McIntyre voices Logan and Krizia Bajos voices Jean Grey, and both joined the panel alongside Insomniac's creative and narrative leads. This is the same studio behind the Spider-Man games, and Marvel's Wolverine sits in that shared corner of Insomniac's Marvel universe rather than a separate continuity.

The villain roster is bigger than one trailer can show. Beyond Deathstrike and The Hand, the game pits Logan against Bolivar Trask's Reavers and the brutal Omega Red, all tied to Trask's larger campaign against mutants.

When you can play it

Marvel's Wolverine launches September 15, 2026 on PlayStation 5. It is a single-player, narrative-driven action-adventure, not an open-world game, and it sends Logan through the Canadian Wilderness, the streets of Tokyo, and the island nation of Madripoor while he rejoins Team X against Trask's mutant-hunting operation. Combat leans on swappable Techniques and Adaptations layered onto the claws, so builds change depending on whether you want to stalk, ambush, or just overwhelm a room.

Standard and Digital Deluxe editions are open for pre-order now on the PlayStation Store, with a Digital Deluxe upgrade path if you already own the base game.
