If underwater camera sway makes your stomach drop before Ditto even finds a habitat, Pokémon Pokopia’s August 5 Dive update is not just new water. Hands-on previews of Ver. 2.0.0 and Expansion Pass Part 1: Bubbly Basin flag comfort toggles and shared storage that matter as much as the new town.
This is for Switch 2 players who already live in Pokopia and want a calm plan before Dive and Bubbly Basin land together.
What ships August 5
Two tracks land the same day:
Free Ver. 2.0.0 for everyone who owns Pokopia: learn Dive, stay underwater, and build below the surface in towns you already have.
Paid Expansion Pass Part 1: Bubbly Basin: a full underwater town, buoyant building, deep-sea exploration, Surf power-ups, smoothies, and new friends.
Official materials are blunt about the gate. Apply the free update first. To learn Dive, finish the Bleak Beach request “Raise the environment level!”, know Surf, and be able to jump. Manaphy teaches Dive. Bubbly Basin also needs that Dive unlock plus the same Bleak Beach environment request.
By learning Dive, Ditto can move around freely underwater! Explore towns in a new way—beneath the waves.
That line is from the official Pokopia update page. The paid town is the splashy trailer beat. The free Dive layer is what every owner gets.

Comfort settings for Divers who get queasy
Hands-on sessions describe Dive as floaty, slow sink, then walk when you touch the seafloor. Stick movement plus camera stick takes a minute to lock in. Previews also call out new settings
