D&D Universes Beyond: WoW Nov 17, Star Wars next

Wizards is borrowing Magic's Universes Beyond playbook for D&D. Here is the confirmed Azeroth checklist, the separate Icecrown SKUs, and what is still foggy on Star Wars.

D&D Universes Beyond: WoW Nov 17, Star Wars next

If you play fifth edition at a real table, or you main a WoW class and keep saying you should run a one-shot someday, this is the status sheet. Wizards of the Coast just put a name on the strategy Magic already proved: D&D Universes Beyond. First up is a full Azeroth gameplay expansion. Star Wars is on the same banner with far less ink so far.

What the trailer does not tell you

The reveal sells the fantasy. The SKUs decide whether your group can run Icecrown without a homebrew map scramble.

Separate from the core book, Wizards is selling an Icecrown Citadel map pack with five double-sided poster maps and a full levels 16-20 digital adventure, plus a four-panel Dungeon Master's Screen. Pre-order bundles on Blizzard's storefront also dangle World of Warcraft in-game cosmetics (Black Dragon mount, Gazer pet, Mimic Chest toy and decor). Those codes need a Battle.net account and an active retail WoW license. Classic is out.

Blizzard's announcement puts the pitch in one sentence:

Releasing November 17 with early access beginning November 3, D&D: World of Warcraft brings the storied MMO world from desktop to tabletop, handing players and Dungeon Masters everything they need to set their next great campaign.

That is from Blizzard's official news post for the crossover.

Dungeon list already named for tabletop conversion: Azjol-Nerub, Blackfathom Deeps, Deadmines, Dire Maul, Onyxia's Lair, Scarlet Monastery, and Shadowfang Keep. Icecrown is the raid-scale add-on, not one of those seven.

Star Wars and the Universes Beyond banner

Wizards also announced a D&D / Star Wars collaboration under the same Universes Beyond line. Confirmed so far: Rebellion-era framing and a 2027 window. Not confirmed in the same detail as WoW: page count, class list, whether it ships as one book or a season kit, and how it sits next to older licensed Star Wars RPGs.

Treat Star Wars as a dated placeholder on your buying calendar, not a character-builder checklist yet. Treat WoW as a November product you can pre-order and plan a Season of Champions table around.

Where to buy and what to do next

Pre-orders are live through official D&D / D&D Beyond storefronts and Blizzard's bundle pages. If you already own the revised Player's Handbook, that is the foundation this expansion assumes. If you want the Frozen Throne finale, budget the Icecrown map pack on top of the book.
