San Diego Comic-Con finally put a day on the calendar for God of War Laufey. Santa Monica Studio’s Faye-led chapter launches February 16, 2027 on PlayStation 5. Watch the earlier gameplay reveal for the vibe, then the panel news the trailer never carried.
What the date announcement means
The window chatter was early 2027. Comic-Con ended that. Laufey is a dated PS5 exclusive for mid-February, less than seven months out from the panel. Wishlisting is live. Marketing should get louder through the rest of 2026.
This is still Faye’s game, not a silent Kratos handoff. Deborah Ann Woll leads as Laufey. The pitch from Sony’s blog last month still holds: after her funeral, she wakes in the afterlife of the gods, the Everywhen, and has to protect the plans she left for Kratos and Atreus.
What the panel added
A Kratos game is next, and it connects. Cory Barlog, Santa Monica’s head of creative, said the next Kratos-led God of War comes after Laufey and ties directly into her story. So Faye’s chapter is not a side quest. It is setup for the next Ghost of Sparta game.
Barlog wants unexpected characters in a bigger world. He framed the Faye game as continuation and expansion: everything in it sets up what comes next. Companion Phranque (Jack Quaid) has been part of the pitch since the reveal. Perlina Lau voices Rue. Christopher Judge still shows up as Kratos in key moments.
Ariel Lawrence is steering the ship. Lawrence is the game director. Barlog has been open that telling Faye’s story has been a long goal of the Norse saga. Comic-Con was the date stamp, not a soft reboot of that pitch.
When you can play it
God of War Laufey launches February 16, 2027 on PS5. If you only care about Kratos as the lead, mark that as the bridge game before his next starring outing. If you care about Faye, the Everywhen, and a more agile combat style than the axe-heavy Kratos loop, this is the dated entry.
