Square Enix posted a new-area trailer for Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold at Fan Fest Berlin. The map is Naglfar, the Realmship of Water. Watch the lakes and sky-ship vistas first. Then the lore and launch facts the clip does not pause to explain.
What the trailer shows
Naglfar is not a normal ground zone. It is a massive flying Realmship with plains, hills, cliffs, lakes, and streams riding above an icebound world. The camera sells scale: water, open land, and a giant crystal core sitting in the middle of the ship.
If you liked Shadowbringers’ “reflection of the world” feeling, this is that idea again, but with people living in the sky instead of on a ruined ground map.
What the trailer does not tell you
Evercold takes you to the Fourth. The expansion continues the Godless Realms Saga that kicked off after Dawntrail. The Fourth is a reflection of Hydaelyn locked under encroaching ice, so its people moved onto five great airships called Realmships. You go there as the Far Wanderer.
Fargarth is the player town on Naglfar. The city sits inside a protective barrier on the Realmship of Water, with space for markets and an airship landing. Naglfar is one of the first maps Square is showing. Hringhorni, the Realmship of Fire, is the mechanical twin with foundries and molten metal.
The Ark Crystal matters to the MSQ. That giant crystal in the center of the ship is not just set dressing. Square says Realmship crystals are key to the main scenario. Patch 7.56 on September 8, 2026 is where more of the bridge story lands before the expansion.
When you can explore it
Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold is dated for January 2027 on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch 2, Mac, and PC. Berlin also showed Bastion, the first new job, plus more Realmship footage. Tokyo Fan Fest still holds the second job reveal.
