Square Enix put out a longer Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold teaser during Fan Fest Berlin. Watch the mood piece, then the roadmap details that never make the trailer text.
What the trailer shows
You see more of the Fourth: ice, ruin, and people living off the ground. There are clearer shots of new characters, fights, and the cold setting the expansion is named for. It is still a teaser, not a systems dump.
What the trailer does not tell you
The Fourth is a reflection world. Like the First in Shadowbringers, the Fourth is another shard of the setting. Ice is winning there, so people moved onto giant airships called Realmships. That is the new home base fantasy for Evercold.
This continues the Godless Realms saga. Evercold is not a random ice vacation. It continues the story line that started after the Hydaelyn and Zodiark era. Berlin framed the Warrior of Light as a Far Wanderer heading into that mess.
Patch 7.56 comes first. Before January launch, Square pointed at patch 7.56 on September 8, 2026 for the first in-game taste of the new story setup. The trailer is marketing. That patch is the actual on-ramp.
When Evercold comes out
Evercold is set for January 2027. Same Fan Fest also started revealing jobs like Bastion. The teaser sells the world. The job trailers sell the toys.
