Comic-Con locks Gundam Rogue Orbit into a new anime timeline

Bandai Namco’s Comic-Con reveal: Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO opens the RG Project, and Rogue Orbit sits about 100 years later in the same world. Here is the fresh teaser and what it means for the 2027 game.

San Diego Comic-Con finally explained what Gundam Rogue Orbit belongs to. Bandai Namco Filmworks unveiled the RG Project: a shared Gundam timeline that opens with a new anime, then picks up generations later in the game. The news is the Comic-Con anime teaser, not the June game announcement clip.

What Comic-Con actually announced

The new anime is Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO, directed by Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) with worldbuilding by Toh Enjoe, animated by SOLA ANIMATION for a 2027 launch. It opens the RG Project: one continuous world told across media, not a one-off game with borrowed branding.

Gundam Rogue Orbit is the high-mobility action game half of that plan. Bandai Namco says the anime and game can each stand alone, but they share one continuity. The show is set roughly 100 years before Rogue Orbit, so the game is the later chapter of the same saga, not a soft reboot of Universal Century lore.

What that means for the game

You still play as RE-X in Gundam Helix for a 2027 launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Helix’s waist and spine deliberately rhyme with Gundam Zero from the anime, so the suits are meant to look related across formats.

Gunpla is already in the pipeline: an HG 1/144 Gundam Helix for retail, plus a Collector’s Edition exclusive HG ARK-10 Helix Earth Blue ver. Gundam Card Game promo material is coming too. That is Comic-Con merchandise proof, not June vapor.

If you only saw the June 5 Summer Game Fest announcement trailer, treat that as the first look at combat. Comic-Con is the timeline map: anime first in the chronology, game later in the same After Apocalypse-style world.

When it lands

Both RG XARX-ZERO and Gundam Rogue Orbit are aimed at 2027. Wishlist the game on the official Rogue Orbit site. Watch the Comic-Con anime teaser on YouTube. Bandai’s official RG Project announcement is the primary write-up if you want the studio wording clean.
