Capcom's Q1 FY2026 materials (quarter ended June 30, 2026) put a clean number on a long-running argument: Resident Evil 2 (2019 remake) is now the best-selling Resident Evil game Capcom publishes in its unit ranking, at 19.75 million lifetime units.
The Capcom chart, not vibes
In Capcom's English Q1 explanation deck, the Digital Contents unit sales ranking (figures in 10,000-unit blocks, including ports) lists:
| Title | Q1 units | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| PRAGMATA | 2.51M | 2.51M |
| Resident Evil 4 (remake) | 2.43M | 16.04M |
| Resident Evil 2 (remake) | 1.42M | 19.75M |
| Devil May Cry 5 | 1.29M | 14.24M |
| Resident Evil 3 (remake) | 1.15M | 14.52M |
| Resident Evil Requiem | 1.14M | 8.06M |
| Resident Evil 7 | 1.01M | 18.41M |
| Resident Evil Village | 0.93M | 15.86M |
| Monster Hunter: World | 0.78M | 30.45M |
| Resident Evil 6 | 0.71M | 17.60M |
Resident Evil 5, long the franchise sales king on Capcom's older tallies (about 19.01M at FY2026 year-end), did not make this quarter's top ten. At RE2's 19.75M lifetime mark, the remake sits ahead of every other Resident Evil lifetime total Capcom showed here, including RE7 at 18.41M.

Capcom company context
On the same deck, Capcom puts cumulative Resident Evil series sales at 213 million units. Catalog strength is the story as much as new launches. Capcom's own Q1 notes called out record quarterly catalog unit sales driven by the RE lineup:
Catalog unit sales hit record quarterly high driven by sales of Resident Evil series titles, including Resident Evil Requiem (released in February)
Requiem is already past 8 million since its February 2026 launch. Among Capcom titles on this ranking, only Monster Hunter: World (30.45M) outranks RE2's lifetime total. That puts the 2019 remake within 250,000 units of becoming the first Resident Evil game past 20 million.
