Amazon Japan put a calendar under IO Interactive’s “later this summer” Switch 2 promise. A Specialist Edition listing for *007 First Light* on Switch 2 has circulated with a September 16, 2026 date attached. IO has not confirmed that day. The official window is still Summer / later this summer 2026.
Treat Sept. 16 as a retailer leak until Copenhagen says otherwise. The useful story is the timeline that is locked, and how close the Switch 2 port is cutting it to the end of meteorological summer (Sept. 22).
What IO has actually said
From IO’s own launch trailer press (May 21, 2026):
007 First Light is set to release on May 27, 2026, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and in Summer 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2.
Same page, pre-order note:
A Nintendo Switch 2 version will follow later this Summer 2026.
That matches ioi.dk/007firstlightgame and the Rules of Spycraft trailer: other platforms first, Switch 2 after. Earlier, IO’s 007 First Light channel posted that Switch 2 would arrive “later this summer” after it slipped off the May 27 day-and-date plan for polish.
CEO Hakan Abrak has separately described the Switch 2 build as already running, with the delay framed as polish time and a late-summer ship intent rather than a canceled port.
