Paramount posted the official trailer for Ebenezer after Johnny Depp unveiled it at Comic-Con. Watch the gothic Scrooge pitch first. Then the casting and release facts the cut does not pause to explain.
What the trailer shows
This is not a bright family carol. Depp’s Scrooge looks mean, funny, and a little haunted: sinking into a bed, throwing snowballs, stalking Dickens London like a period ghost story. The tone sits closer to dark fantasy than to a soft holiday special.
Paramount’s line is blunt: the name you know, the story you do not. The trailer sells redemption as a fight, not a cozy lesson.
What the trailer does not tell you
Ti West directs. West comes from Pearl and MaXXXine. He has said older Christmas Carol adaptations were some of his earliest brushes with horror. That is why this cut feels gothic instead of Hallmark.
The supporting cast is stacked. Ian McKellen plays Jacob Marley. Rupert Grint is Bob Cratchit. The wider cast includes Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Daisy Ridley, and Tramell Tillman as the Ghost of Christmas Present. Nathaniel Halpern adapted Dickens.
This is Depp’s big studio return. The trailer leans on that comeback energy on purpose. Emma Watts produces. Paramount is treating it as a November theatrical event, not a quiet streaming dump.
When to see it
Ebenezer opens in theaters November 13, 2026. If you want Dickens straight, wait for reviews. If you want a Ti West holiday ghost story with Depp at the center, the trailer is the bait.
