Forever Skies hits Xbox Series X|S with The Final Echoes

Far From Home's airship survival game is live on Xbox Series X|S today with Play Anywhere, timed to the free Final Echoes update on all platforms.

Forever Skies hits Xbox Series X|S with The Final Echoes

Xbox survival fans who skipped Forever Skies on PC or PS5 finally have a day-one console path: the Far From Home airship game is live on Xbox Series X|S today, July 27, 2026, with Xbox Play Anywhere baked in. The same window also drops The Final Echoes, the third free Echoes update, across Xbox, PC, and PS5.

Xbox launch trailer

The official Xbox channel posted a CGI-plus-gameplay launch trailer that sells the loop in plain terms: fly a high-tech airship over a dust-choked Earth, scavenge ruins, craft tools, and hunt viral samples while a mysterious illness hits the last humans still stuck in orbit.

What lands with The Final Echoes

This is not a thin port. Series X|S players get the game on the same day PC and PS5 owners get The Final Echoes (version 1.3.0), the wrap-up of Far From Home's community-driven Echoes series. Headline systems from the studio's own launch notes include a new airship electricity setup built around generators, a harder airship damage model, extra side quests about former surface dwellers, new combat threats above the dust (including hostile drones), more landmarks, custom difficulty, and biome-3 radio tower variety work.

Far From Home's Steam launch post puts the platform story in one place:

We're excited to announce that today marks the launch of The Final Echoes Update, the third and final instalment in our major free update series, alongside the official release of the game on XBOX Series X|S! And better yet, XBOX Play Anywhere is fully supported!

That Play Anywhere line matters: buy once on the Microsoft Store and you can move between Xbox console and Windows PC with cloud saves, which matches how Xbox Wire listed the title for the July 27 week.

What the trailer does not spell out

A few practical details live outside the clip. The Xbox Store lists Forever Skies at $34.99 for the standard edition, with a Deluxe bundle that adds the Supporter Pack cosmetics. Online co-op supports up to four players, and console multiplayer still needs Game Pass Core or Ultimate. Existing PC saves can continue: Far From Home says a fresh save is recommended for the full Final Echoes experience, but it is not required, and the studio shipped a catch-up quest for older progress.

Also worth clearing up if you only saw the update name: The Final Echoes ends the Echoes initiative, not support for the game. On the studio site, Far From Home said the title "does NOT mean we'll never update the game again," and that smaller fixes and content will keep coming, just not at Echoes scale.
