Yes. Halo: Campaign Evolved has a standard campaign ending, a post-credits beat with 343 Guilty Spark, and a separate Legendary scene starring Sgt. Avery Johnson. Soft spoiler wall starts now. If you still need The Maw, stop here and come back after the Longsword clears the ring.
Spoiler map: what unlocks what
| Sequence | How you see it | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Main ending | Finish the original **10** campaign missions on any difficulty | Chief and Cortana escape as the *Pillar of Autumn* cooks Installation 04 |
| Post-credits | Stay through the credits after that clear | Guilty Spark drifting in space, alive |
| Legendary ending | Clear the **full main campaign on Legendary** | Johnson on a beach, watching the old joke ending, then leaving for a Pelican |
The three bonus prequel missions are not the gate for the Legendary joke scene. Beat the classic run on Legendary.
Legendary ending cutscene (and post-credits context):
Main ending: same punchline, new coat of paint
After The Maw, Chief and Cortana punch out in a Longsword while the Autumn's reactor finishes the ring. Cortana confirms nobody else made it. She celebrates the Flood wipe and the Covenant fleet loss, then owns the Marine cost with the old "we had no choice" line. The exchange still lands on the franchise's original mic drop:
Halo. It's finished. No. I think we're just getting started.
That dialogue is rebuilt for Campaign Evolved, not replaced. In 2001 it pointed at Halo 2. In 2026 it still reads as a sequel hook, which is why the new stingers matter.

Post-credits: Guilty Spark does not die with the ring
After the credits, on any difficulty, the remake shows 343 Guilty Spark surviving the Installation 04 blast and traveling through space toward another Forerunner site. If you know Halo 2, that shot is the bridge into the Heretic / Arbiter open. If you do not, treat it as the cleanest "the monitor is still in play" confirmation the remake gives you.
Halo Studios has not put a title card on screen announcing a Halo 2: Campaign Evolved. The Spark shot is a sequel-shaped arrow, not a press release.
Legendary ending: Johnson breaks the fourth wall
Clear the main campaign on Legendary and the remake replaces the old "Johnson hugs an Elite as the ring dies" gag with a new one. Johnson is already off the clock on a beach, rewatching that classic Legendary clip on a handheld. He clocks the Autumn cooking the ring in the real distance, stands up for a Pelican extract, and points at the camera:
See you in the sequel.

That line is doing two jobs at once. In-universe, it papers over the old Continuity meme that Johnson "died" on Legendary CE yet walked into Halo 2 fine (the novels already had him escaping by Pelican). As marketing energy, it is the loudest wink Campaign Evolved has toward more remakes. Loud is not the same as locked. No Halo Studios or Xbox storefront page has posted a dated Halo 2 Campaign Evolved announcement as of this writing.
Confirmed vs not
| Claim | Status |
|---|---|
| Standard CE ending dialogue returns | Confirmed in-game |
| Guilty Spark post-credits survival shot | Confirmed after credits |
| Johnson Legendary beach / "See you in the sequel" | Confirmed on Legendary clears |
| *Halo 2: Campaign Evolved* greenlit with a date | **Not** confirmed by Halo Studios |
| Bonus missions required for Legendary ending | **No** (main 10 on Legendary) |
What to do next
If you want the Johnson scene, plan a Legendary run of the classic missions, or finish on a lower difficulty first and come back with Skulls for practice. If you just want the Spark stinger, any clear plus credits patience works.
