MCU fans who sat through Marvel Studios' SDCC 2026 Hall H show looking for a Nova title card left empty-handed. The confirmation came afterward: Kevin Feige said the project is a movie, and he said almost nothing else.
What Feige said after Hall H
Disney's own Comic-Con recap packages the Hall H night around Avengers: Doomsday, a new Ghost Rider film for 2028 starring Ryan Gosling and directed by Shawn Levy, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and Black Panther 3 with a hard theatrical date of December 15, 2028. Nova is not listed as a stage unveiling, which matches how the news actually broke: off the main stage, after the panel.
In a post-panel interview at San Diego Comic-Con, Feige was asked whether a Nova movie was happening. A publicist on hand joked that Marvel had said "not a damn thing" about it. Feige kept the joke and locked the format:
Not a damn thing, but it's a movie.
That line is the useful status upgrade. Marvel Studios is treating Nova as a theatrical feature in development, not a vague cosmic rumor and not the shelved Disney+ series track fans heard about in earlier years. If you only needed one binary answer, that is it.

Industry reporting before Comic-Con had already attached screenwriter Michael Waldron (Loki, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Doomsday co-writer) to an early Nova film take after the streaming version fell away. Feige's quip does not re-litigate that writer deal on camera. Treat Waldron as early-development attachment until Marvel puts him (or anyone else) on a title card.

Near-term Marvel theatrical priorities from Disney's SDCC materials stay concrete: Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives July 31, 2026, Avengers: Doomsday lands December 18, 2026, then Ghost Rider and Black Panther 3 occupy 2028. A Nova movie is an early-development cosmic add sitting behind that dated slate. Do not pencil it onto next summer's ticket sheet until Marvel dates it in public.

Guardians introduced the Corps as Xandar's military and police force, showed the rank ladder up through Nova Prime, and used the Battle of Xandar as a full fleet spectacle. The open question for the new feature is which human Centurion story Marvel wants to build on top of that worldbuilding: a Richard Rider origin, a Sam Alexander handoff, or something Marvel has not named yet.
