Mistborn readers watching Brandon Sanderson's public progress circles finally got the update they have been refreshing for: a major Mistborn screenplay milestone in his latest Weekly Update, timed to the books' twentieth anniversary month.

Where the public tracker sits
Sanderson's official site still publishes live progress rings for active projects. When we checked brandonsanderson.com, the Mistborn Screenplay ring read 95%, with Ghostbloods Book 1 and Songrise 4.0 at 100% and Riftwake Book 3 lower on the board.

That 95% reading matters for expectations. A major milestone update can land while the public ring is still short of 100%, especially if the remaining slice is polish, notes, or turn-in packaging rather than blank pages.
Why Apple is in the room
The Hollywood Reporter reported Apple TV closed a Cosmere deal that puts Mistborn on a feature track and The Stormlight Archive on television, with Sanderson as architect of the universe: writing, producing, consulting, and holding approvals. Mistborn is the movie lane. Stormlight is the series lane.
Sanderson has been writing the Mistborn screenplay himself, which is unusual for a franchise this size and is why the percentage updates became a spectator sport in the first place.

What comes after a first-pass script
Even when a draft clears Sanderson's desk, studio features still move through notes, revisions, director pitches, and casting. Sanderson has previously described the sequence in plain terms on Weekly Updates: turn the screenplay in, spend time in revisions, then hunt for a director. Treat that order as the working map until Apple or Dragonsteel posts a different one.
Mistborn: The Final Empire originally hit shelves in July 2006. Landing a screenplay milestone in the twentieth anniversary month is good theater. It is not a greenlight for trailers.
