This is not a full trailer. It is better than silence. Director Matt Reeves posted a short Camera Test for The Batman Part II: Robert Pattinson back in the cowl, snow falling, sirens somewhere off-frame, then a new sequel logo. Warner Bros. also locked theaters for February 18, 2028. Watch the look first.
What the clip actually is
A camera test is the crew dialing in glass, lighting, and how the suit reads before principal photography settles into rhythm. Reeves labeled it that way on purpose. You get atmosphere and confirmation, not a plot dump. Pattinson turns toward camera in the cape. Gotham is winter now, not the endless rain of the first film. That seasonal shift had already leaked in set stills. The footage makes it policy.
Cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt is shooting the sequel after Greig Fraser’s work on the first movie. If the test feels familiarly grim and precise, that is the point: same noir spine, colder air.
The date story
The Batman opened in March 2022. The sequel has slipped more than once. An earlier target sat in October 2026, then October 2027. The new board date is February 18, 2028. That is almost six years between chapters. Long gap, big post window, and a signal that Reeves is protecting the finish more than the calendar.
Who is walking back into Gotham
Pattinson returns as Bruce Wayne / Batman. Returning and expanding names around him include Jeffrey Wright, Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis, Barry Keoghan, and Jayme Lawson, plus Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent, Scarlett Johansson, Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry, and more. Reeves co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin. Plot stays sealed. Expect winter Gotham after the flood aftermath of the first film, not a soft reboot.
