Wonder Man’s showrunner: not a stunt, not a movie, just canceled

*Marvel Television renewed Wonder Man, then walked it back. Showrunner and co-creator Andrew Guest just put the rumor mill through a shredder on [TikTok](https://www.tiktok.com/@andrewgst): this is not a stunt, there is no movie pivot, and Destin Daniel Cretton’s Spider-Man* calendar did not kill Season 2.

What died was an internal Disney / Marvel call. Guest only knows that much.

What Guest cleared up (Aug. 2)

This is not a marketing stunt. There is no movie in the works, and Destin’s schedule, and no one’s schedule, was an issue. Yahya, Destin, Sir Ben, and I all loved making this show, all felt passionately about continuing to do it, and were eager to. Contracts were signed. Schedules were cleared.

He added that the writers’ room was supposed to open this month (August 2026), production was aiming for early next year, and he had already written a Season 2 premiere draft with an outline the room felt good about.

Then the knife:

There was a decision made internally between Disney and Marvel that this didn’t make sense for them, even though a few months ago it did. And that’s essentially all I really know.

He is not claiming visibility into Disney+ metrics. He is saying the creatives were locked, scheduled, and ready, and the studio still pulled the plug.
